How to Open via China Bank Start App

  1. Download the China Bank START App
  2. Choose the account to open then tap “Apply Now”
  3. Complete the eligibility questions and customer information
  4. Input the one-time password sent to your mobile number
  5. Scan your valid ID and take a selfie
  6. Sign online, review, then submit your application
  7. Provide your username and password to sign up on the China Bank Mobile App
  8. To view your account number, download and log in to China Bank Mobile App.

You will be asked to input the One-Time Activation Code (OAC) sent to your registered email.

Who can Open an Account

  • A Filipino Citizen
  • At least 18 years old
  • Without existing China Bank Account
  • Have a permanent Philippine address
  • Have an active mobile number and e-mail

To open an OKS Savings Account, you must be an OFW or a beneficiary of an OFW.

How do I install the China Bank START App?

Search "China Bank START” in Google Play Store for android devices or App Store for iOS users. Download and install the application on your device. Minimum OS (Operating System) requirements are Android 9 and iOS 12.

How will I know the details of my newly opened account?

You can view your account details by logging in to the China Bank Mobile App.

Can I open an account even when I am overseas?

Yes, as long as you have the requirements and active mobile number.

Can I open a Joint Account in the App?

No. Opening of a joint account can be done in the branch.

My application cannot be processed online, what should I do?

Check if all the information you entered is accurate and try submitting again.

Can I edit my information upon reviewing the details?

Yes, just click the Pencil icon to edit your information.

How soon do I need to fund my newly opened account to avoid account closure?

You need to fund your account within 90 days of the account opening date. You may send funds into your account via online fund transfer from another China Bank account or from other banks.

Can I readily use the newly opened account for mobile banking transactions?

Yes. Newly opened accounts are ready for immediate use. You may already receive funds from other bank accounts and perform mobile banking transactions like fund transfers, prepaid mobile or eWallet reload, bill payments, and more.

How can I request an ATM card?

You may request for an ATM card from the nearest China Bank branch. You have the option to request for an embossed or pre-processed ATM card. Standard processing time will apply.

Can I transact over-the-counter using the newly opened account?

Yes. You only need to request the branch to lift the OTC restriction. So on your visit to the branch, please bring your original valid ID submitted online and a statement of account (SOA) with the address indicated in your online application form.

What should I do if I encounter a selfie error?

Retake your selfie following these reminders:

  • Make sure that you are in a well-lit area
  • Take a selfie against a plain background
  • Remove eyeglasses, cap, and other accessories
  • Hold the mobile phone in portrait mode

What should I do when I get an invalid OTP error message?

You may request for another OTP. Please make sure that you are inputting the correct OTP and that the OTP is not expired yet. The OTP expires within 2 minutes from receipt.

What should I do if I get an error when uploading my ID?

Try again following these reminders:

  • Your ID should be in the list of acceptable IDs and not expired, photocopy or digital copy
  • Ensure that your ID is not blurred and that all four edges are visible
  • Turn-on camera permission, with the flash turned off
  • Take the photo in a well-lit area, against a dark background

What should I do when I get an error while filling out the online form?

Check if all mandatory fields are filled out. If not, edit as needed and proceed.

How much is the maximum deposit for the account?

There is no deposit limit for accounts opened via START. Please note however that your branch of account will perform standard monitoring on your account to ensure compliance with the bank regulators.

Is China Bank START secure?

Yes. China Bank START was designed with your security and data privacy in mind. The bank followed the standard security requirements for online account opening.

China Bank START will not save your information until you successfully completed the online account opening. As an added layer of protection, you will be asked to input one-time password (OTP) which is only visible to you. The application will not proceed unless all the information indicated are complete. As for your China Bank mobile app enrollment, you will be asked to nominate your username and password during the account opening. Please do not share these information to anyone for your security.
